Disney Blog Hop: Pirates

Well, since blogger went down I lost my entire post and comments from last week's Disney Blog Hop! I am going to try and re-do the post and get it up soon, but not sure when I will have the time.

This week's theme is Pirates of the Caribbean, fitting in with the release of the 4th movie on Friday.

When I first saw what the theme was I had no idea what to write about. You see I am one of the few people in the world who have not seen ONE of the Pirate movies. We actually do own the first one, but I have never watched it. I know, I know  . . . I am terrible. For some reason I just don't think I would like it so I never got into them.

Also, we've never been on the Pirates of the Caribbean ride in Disney World either. The first trip we took, it was down when we tried to get on it and the second trip, we just didn't have time. I've never really been into pirates (being as that I have 2 sisters and no brothers), but now that I have a son who is 3, that is all about to change!

So instead of writing about the Pirates of the Caribbean, I am going to write about my son and his new found love for pirates :)

When Jake and the Neverland Pirates show came on Disney Junior, my son watched it and loved it! He now watches it every chance he gets. We were able to see the new Disney Junior Live show on our last trip and he loved that they were a part of the show. This has gotten him interested more in pirates. Also, at school this past week they have been watching Peter Pan (in the afternoons) and he is entranced every time I pick him up. He just doesn't want to leave. I think this has started his love for pirates.

Just yesterday morning he put his hand around his eye like a "scote" and said "arghhhhh" - it was so cute! He has been finding anything that can be used as a sword so he can fight like a pirate. He has a great imagination! For our next trip to Disney we are thinking about doing the Pirates League for him so he can get dressed up like a pirate - I think he would really enjoy that!

For those who enjoy the Pirates of the Caribbean movies - enjoy the newest installment! Maybe I will eventually get around to watching the first one to see what it's all about :)

If anyone has done the Pirates League - let me know what you thought about it!

Thanks so much to Babes in Disneyland for hosting the Blog Hop! I love being a part of it :)

  1. Don't feel bad, I didn't watch any of them either until last year. When Pirates first came out I literally tried to watch it twice and fell asleep in the first 20 minutes both times, so I gave up. Boo just loves them though! After our last trip to Disney in 2008, I resolved I would finally sit down to watch them sometime. So sometime between then and last year, I finally sat down to watch the first one (in the middle of the day, to give it a fair shot this time). I liked it pretty well. Like I said, Boo loves them, so we had all three movies, so a few days later I watched the next one. Really liked it, so the very next night I watched the third. LOVED IT!! I was truly surprised at how much I ended up liking the series, since like you, I had never had any interest in them before. I'm pretty hooked now! Whenever you do finally get around to them, if you make it to the third (and I'm pretty sure you will) be sure to watch after the credits!! I don't know that it matters much with the last installment, but it was a nice little extra :-)

PS- My little C Man loves Jake, too!

  2. Yes- I took my nephews to the Pirate League when it first opened (that I couldn't get my teens to do :(( ). They adored it! The packages were quite expensive then, but they've actually come down in price. Their favorite part was the pirate oath at the end...

  3. I do love the PotC movies, but I wanted to say that all three of my kids love Jake and the Neverland Pirates too. When it isn't on, they pretend they are searching golden doubloons around the house or the yard. It is pretty funny to watch them act out their own adventures!

  4. Give the movies a chance, they may surprise you. I've watched a couple of episodes of Jake & the Neverland Pirates. I love that Captain Hook & Smee are a part of it.

  5. I think it's great that Disney has something for the boys since there is all the princess stuff for girls. I didn't think I would like the movies either, my daughter (she's 23) talked me into watching the first one (which is my favorite). Now I love the series. My family has never gone on the ride either, it is on our "must do" list for July.

My 2 year old daughter LOVES Jake and the Neverland Pirates! It's such a cute little show and I love how they brought in existing characters like Captain Hook and Smee. My husband and I even go around saying "Aw, coconuts!". :-)
